Our first installment of Skinny & Co. Lifestyle Series will be all about Super Foods. These amazing foods can be used for a multitude of reasons and have incredible health support benefits. Our first super food isn’t actually a food at all - it’s water!
Water should be a key part of everyone’s diet. After all, water composes about 60% of our body weight! It is used by every cell, organ, and tissue. Each of our bodily systems depends on it. Water supports the heart as it helps carry oxygen throughout the body. Drinking adequate amounts of pure water throughout the day is essential for supporting optimal health!
Staying properly hydrated is very important, yet can easily be overlooked. Many times we are dehydrated without even realizing it. When you feel thirsty its too late!! Drinking the commonly recommended eight glasses of water is not something everyone thinks about. However, based on the fact that your body is dependent on water for so many normal processes, it is impossible to avoid the importance of water for the body and mind to perform at their best!
Here are 3 simple tips to help include more water into your daily routine:
- Drink a large glass of warm water with a squeeze of lemon first thing in the morning.
- Slice some of your favorite fruit or veggies (think cucumbers!) and infuse them with ice-cold filtered water. Some of our favorite combinations are strawberries with basil, raspberry mint or lemon and lime. It’s a delicious way to stay hydrated!
- Drink water using a straw. Try it, and you’ll be surprised at how easy it is to get in 8 glasses throughout the day!
Our Skinny & Co. family loves simple, nutritious foods that help keep us healthy and satisfied. Stay tuned within the coming weeks to hear some more facts and recipes using some of our favorite super foods!
